Drone corridors approved for the Norwegian coastline

Some addresses are easy to love and hard to serve. The outer islands off Norway's west coast see ferries cancelled one day in five through winter, and a parcel can spend longer on the quay than it spent crossing Europe.

After eighteen months of supervised trials, the CAA has approved two permanent corridors between our Bergen gateway and the island clusters of Øygarden and Austevoll. Fixed-wing cargo drones will fly six scheduled rotations a day, each carrying up to 45 kilograms.

The drones cruise at 110 km/h below controlled airspace, navigate by redundant GNSS and terrain vision, and land on three-metre pads we have installed beside existing parcel lockers.

For islanders, next-day becomes same-day. For us, it is the template for a hundred more coastlines.
